Principal's Message

Dear MACS Students and Families:

Welcome to MACS!  Whether you are brand new to MACS or are a returning family, I look forward to working with you as we enter our 21st year of service to the families of Philadelphia.

At MACS, self-discipline is the foundation upon which greatness is built. Our strict behavioral standards, rigorous college-prep curriculum, and superb instructional quality make up the MACS secret formula and lead to great achievements for our students, as they have for so many students over the years.

These achievements continue to be routinely recognized by outside organizations.  Just recently, once again awarded MACS a “9 out of 10” in their scoring of all city high schools.  Only one other non-special-entry high school in the entire city received a score this high!

Also, for the fourth year in a row, MACS received "Bronze" recognition for academic achievement in 2015 by the national magazine US News and World Report.

Most recently, Newsweek magazine considered over 14,000 U.S. high schools for their school rankings, and ranked MACS as #289 in their top schools nationwide that are “beating the odds…performing better than statistically expected.”  Amongst schools in Pennsylvania only, MACS is ranked second on their list.

I am proud to witness the continued growth of our school’s performance, as well as the growth of a variety of student programs and opportunities at MACS.  As always, we have many upcoming events planned to further showcase our students' talents, including performances by our drama and music programs and exhibits by our art club.  Truly, the educational experience at our school is more dynamic than ever before.

I encourage our students to take full advantage of the peaceful climate that the staff maintains for your benefit.  I hope you rise to the challenge and make good choices while you are a MACS student.  Success is there for the taking, if you want it as much as our staff wants it for you.

Welcome to the MACS family and best wishes for a successful school year.
