Dual Enrollment and College Credits

Temple U LogoStudents are eligible and encouraged to take college dual enrollment courses while in high school. Doing so, will give the student a head start in their college educational journey and give them a taste of the college experience. As a college prep high school, we aspire to prepare all students for postsecondary education.

We have a dual enrollment partnership with the Temple University B4USoar program. Students can apply at the end of 10th grade and take one class per semester through 12th grade. These are FREE college courses paid for by the Fox School of Business. Because slots in the program may be limited, there is a competitive application process. To be eligible, students must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher by the end of 10th grade. Students also must show exceptional dedication to their academics and uphold honorable character to be considered.

All Temple University B4USoar classes take place in-person on campus. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the university. Students are expected to sign a dual enrollment contract each semester they are taking a course. Students will receive course credit on their high school report card and transcript based upon the grade they earn at Temple University.

All courses taken through the B4USoar program are transferable to other universities. Students would need to request a copy of their college transcript from the Temple University registrar’s office and provide the document to the new college.

CCP logoIn addition, students may take college courses through the Community College of Philadelphia through their Advance at College program. CCP offers a wide range of courses during the school year and summer for high school students. Many classes are held in-person and many are hybrid/cyber classes.

In general, families are responsible for the expense of taking a class at CCP. However, if you are a Philadelphia resident entering 11th or 12th grade you may be eligible to take college courses at CCP and earn up to 12 credits a year free of charge. You will not pay for tuition, books or fees, and you can choose from a variety of courses. Early Scholars is made possible through the Octavius Catto Scholarship, a partnership with the City of Philadelphia.

The counselor may assist students and families with the application process and serve as a recommendation for these programs. All courses taken at CCP are transferable to other universities. Students would need to request a copy of their college transcript from CCP’s registrar office and provide the document to the new college. Students who take courses through CCP do not receive dual enrollment credits on their high school report card and transcript.
